Privacy Policy

Customers are free to choose whether they wish to provide personal data, but most of the data is needed to use Poio's services and is required in order to enter an agreement with Poio. If you do not provide this data, it entails that you will be unable to use the Reading Game Poio.


What data does Poio store?

Poio attempts to limit stored personal data to a minimum. As of now, we store e-mail addresses, the player's first name and the player’s birth year, in addition to data needed to remember and track the player’s progression in the game.

What is my data used for?

When you initially register for Poio, we will ask you for specific permission for each of the processes that are based on permission. For the processes that are based on permission, granting permission will of course be voluntary, and permission can be withdrawn at any time by contacting Poio at privacy@poio.com, or by going to the parent menu in the game (available from the cog icon under the map after registration).

Processes that are based on permission:

  • Personal follow-up with reports and tips, so that you can follow your child's progress in the game.

  • Newsletter, in case you are interested in future Poio products.

  • Cloud storage, so you can play across many different devices. (Coming soon)

  • Game improvements, so that we can improve the game and boost the learning effect for your child.

How does Poio keep my data secure?

Your data will be transferred from your device to our servers through the use of HTTPS. Access is restricted to Poio employees.

Poio only uses sub-contractors who are held to the same standard of privacy as we hold ourselves to.

Who has access to my data?

Access is restricted to Poio employees. Poio will in some cases share statistics consisting of anonymised data with third parties.

Can I access my data?

Yes! If you are registered in the game, you have the right to access what data about you is processed by Poio. In order to gain access to the data we have stored in our database, please send an e-mail to privacy@poio.com. Poio will reply as quickly as possible, and no more than 30 days after receiving your inquiry. Poio is currently working on an interface that will automate this process.

How long do you store my data?

Your data is stored for as long as you continue to play Poio. After 365 days of inactivity, all data linked to your account is automatically deleted from our servers. If you do not uninstall Poio from your devices, you will keep a local copy of your data that will be restored if you begin using Poio again. If you uninstall Poio after 365 days of inactivity, all your data will be deleted without the possibility of recovery.

Where is my data stored?

Poio uses Microsoft Azure with servers located within the borders of the EU. Poio also uses Google Firebase with servers located in the USA. Google Inc. is certified under EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.

Can you delete my data?

Yes! You have the right to be forgotten. If you would like us to delete your account and all the data have linked to your account, please send us an e-mail at privacy@poio.com. Poio will reply as quickly as possible, and no more than 30 days after receiving your inquiry. Poio is currently working on an interface that will automate this process.

NOTE: In order to guarantee that your data is deleted from our systems without the possibility of recovery, you must uninstall Poio from all your devices yourself. If you do not uninstall Poio from your devices, you will keep a local copy of your data that will be restored if you begin using Poio at a later point in time.
